It depends. You do not need a permit if there are no structural changes.

If an original item did not receive a permit when it was initially constructed, or if the size/location is being changed a permit is required.

Do I need a permit to create habitable space in my basement?
Yes, all alterations installing electric wiring and/or plumbing require a permit.
Can anyone occupy a nonresidential space in the Township without approval?
No. A Certificate of Use and Occupancy is required for all established nonresidential uses.
Does the township require a U&O for a resale?
No, we currently do not require it.
How many horses can I have?
You need 3 acres for one horse; after that you are allowed one horse per acre.
