New Hanover Township “free schools” started in 1850 with the operation of 10 one-room schools. The township-run school system closed in 1949, but all of the buildings still stand today.

If you have public sewer, you are part of the New Hanover Township Authority. More information about the sanitary sewer system can be found here.

If you have public water, your water is supplied by Aqua. More information about those services can be found here.

Our police department is full time, with the building being located at 2373 Hoffmansville Road, Frederick, PA 19435. If you have an emergency, please call 911. Unlike our police department, the New Hanover Township Volunteer Fire and Rescue is a fully volunteer organization that assists in emergencies; if you are interested in joining, please visit them at 2154 Swamp Pike, Gilbertsville, PA 19525 for a volunteer application.
